Let me begin by saying I'm a super picky and hard to please customer. I've never bought a set of cotton sheets that was super soft on day one. At best they usually take 6 months to get soft enough for naked sleeping. These sheets are what I always hoped sheets would be - they are by far of the softest material right from the start! The weave is super tight - they seem of a higher thread count than 300 and have a slight sheen to them like a sateen weave. The quality of the material is excellent, good weight and wrinkle free which is a nice surprise. As others have said the top sheet (I bought the queen) is huge making me think they made a mistake by packaging a king top sheet. It's hard to complain about that because I've never had a queen sheet that was long or wide enough. I will for once not have a top sheet that is always being fought over for coverage! I applaud the inner box that the sheets come in as opposed to another piece of landfill plastic! And I love that the fabric is organic and of superior quality. Very happy customer!EDIT: I am very disappointed in this purchase. I have now washed the sheets multiple times and they are scratchy and uncomfortable to the point I had to get up in the middle of the night and change the sheets. Unfortunately I am passed the return date and having washed them so many times I cannot send them back. This was a complete waste of $150. On top of the chemical smell I noticed when first opening the sheets and the scratchiness. the top sheet and fitted sheet are different sizes. I ordered Queen and received a Queen fitted sheet and a King top sheet. I guess these will now be a very expensive set of drop cloths now as they will not be going back on the bed.Original post:I have become very aware of the chemicals we come in contact with daily. My new diagnosis of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity came as no surprise when I suddenly began having rashes, respiratory problems and worsened migraines. I was so excited to buy "Organic" sheets from Grund; finally a product I don't have to worry about inhaling off-gassing from a multitude of unregulated chemicals. Upon opening the box I smelled "it", that oh too familiar stench. I washed the sheets in vinegar, the smell remained. I've now washed them in chemical free, fragrance free detergent. Though the smell isn't quite as strong it's still there. Could it be possible that the sheets are organic yet are treated or sprayed with pesticides or other chemicals for shipping? If so, why would you do that? If not, what is that smell? Flame retardants? Sizing? I'm literally afraid to put them on my bed and will continue using my tried and true (and ragged) 20year old sheets until I can be sure.I'm a writer and editor who works from home. These organic sheets feel so incredibly delicious, I may start working from bed! I may give every fictional character I create from here on out the last name Grund. I might move to Savannah (okay, I'll never relocate from the Pacific Northwest again). But seriously, these sheets are silky and cool against the skin. Before we put them on our bed, we rubbed our cheeks against them and said, "Ahhhh!" and "OMG!". We like too that these sheets are made with the environment in mind. Will likely buy in dark grey too.I am a proud owner of a true set of “ grund” bed sheets. I spent 145 dollars last year on a pair of the Savannah sheets. When I saw them on amazon for 40 in the “ driftwood” color I gasped and bought two. Both sets have discolored the first night I slept in them. The dye in certain areas have washed out to this bronze orange color and the sheets are god awful! They are definitely a gruimos pair of sheets because I feel the comfort level of the cotton however the dyes faded. This third party seller must have an extremely old batch of sheets or is trying to get rid of defective sheets. I will return both and purchase from original website .These sheets are the best! The packaging alone is lovely and perfect for gift giving. The sheets are so incredibly soft and sturdy. They make a beautiful crisply made bed. They aren't prone to pilling up after several washes, due to their high thread count. I'll have and enjoy these sheets for many years to come.I love the feeling of sleeping in high quality sheets, and after reading all of the reviews of these sheets, I thought that they would be a good buy! After receiving our sheets, we washed them once and put them on our bed. But unfortunately, rather than feeling silky soft like others reported, our sheets feel like sleeping on an old wool blanket where the fibers in the sheets feel like they are poking you. Maybe this will go away after some more washes? Or did we just get a bad batch?These sheets are wonderful!! They feel amazing, so smooth and luxurious! The price is right, and the fact that they are made of organic cotton makes me feel very eco-responsible.Really soft sheets. They are wrinkle-resistant. Would buy again.
